Daniel J. Schrider, VICE CHAIRMAN, PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Daniel J. Schrider is the Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sandy Spring Bancorp, Inc. and Sandy Spring Bank.

Mr. Schrider has been part of Sandy Spring Bank for more than 30 years. He joined the company in 1989 as a commercial lender, he become an executive and the bank’s Chief Credit Officer in 2003, and he was named President and Chief Executive Officer in 2009. Mr. Schrider holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and an MBA from Mount St. Mary's University. Mr. Schrider is also a graduate of the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

A leader among community bankers, Mr. Schrider has served previously as a director of the American Bankers Association, the chairman of the Maryland Bankers Association, and a chair of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking Advisory Board. He currently serves as the President of the Sandy Spring Bank Foundation, Inc.

R. Louis Caceres, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF WEALTH OFFICER

Mr. Caceres joined Sandy Spring Bank in 1999 as retail sales leader with a strong background in retail and investment services. He was named to executive vice president in 2002. During his tenure with the Bank, Mr. Caceres has led various business lines including retail banking, small business and consumer lending, commercial banking sales, marketing, equipment leasing, insurance and the mortgage division before focusing exclusively on fee-based revenue. Mr. Caceres has overseen tremendous growth in the Company’s wealth management business lines, which include the subsidiary companies of West Financial Services, Rembert Pendleton Jackson as well as a full range of fiduciary services through Sandy Spring Bank’s Trust Division. Through both organic growth and strategic M&A opportunities, assets under management currently exceed $6.0 billion.  A graduate of the University of Maryland, Mr. Caceres holds a BA in Economics and an MA from American University. He currently serves on the board of The Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, Maryland, and previously served as the chairman of the Mid Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and St. John’s Episcopal School.

Kenneth C. Cook, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND PRESIDENT OF COMMERCIAL BANKING

Mr. Cook is Executive Vice President and President of Commercial Banking for Sandy Spring Bank. In this capacity, Mr. Cook oversees Commercial Banking, Corporate & Institutional lending, Treasury Management, and Portfolio Administration.

Mr. Cook’s career spans over 37 years of serving businesses and individuals throughout the Greater Washington, D.C. region. Previously, Mr. Cook was Co-President and CEO of Revere Bank and a member of the Board of Directors from 2010 to March 2020 when Revere Bank was acquired by Sandy Spring Bank. Mr. Cook also served as President and CEO of Mercantile Potomac Bank from 1994 to 2007. He led a 3-year transition during and after PNC Bank’s acquisition of Mercantile Bankshares Corporation in 2007 as Regional President, Suburban Washington for PNC Bank. Mr. Cook holds an MBA from Loyola College, Baltimore, MD, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Towson University.

Gary Fernandes, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER

Mr. Fernandes joined Sandy Spring Bank in 2015 as the Director of Human Resources and was appointed to the Executive Team as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer in 2021.

With more than 30 years of experience in human resources, Mr. Fernandes’ responsibilities include overseeing the Human Resources function for the Company including employee engagement, internal communications, professional development, leading merger & acquisition employee integration, and much more. In his time with the Company, he has played a lead role in enhancing the employee experience and elevating Sandy Spring Bank as an employer of choice.

Mr. Fernandes holds a MS in Human Resources Management from the University of Maryland, Global Campus and a BA in Behavioral and Social Science from the University of Maryland, College Park. Mr. Fernandes also serves on the Board of Directors of MedStar Montgomery Medical Center and is a member of the ABA Professional Development Council. He also represents Sandy Spring Bank on the Board of Trustees of the Virginia Bankers School of Bank Management and as a member of the Wharton Financial Services Group.

Aaron M. Kaslow, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER AND GENERAL COUNSEL

Mr. Kaslow was appointed General Counsel & Secretary of Bancorp and Bank in July 2019 after serving the Company for over 10 years as outside counsel in his role as partner with Kilpatrick Townsend and Stockton, LLP.  In 2022, he was named Chief Administrative Officer adding the oversight of Human Resources, Operations, and Information Technology to his responsibilities.  As Team Leader of Kilpatrick Townsend’s Financial Institutions practice, Mr. Kaslow focused on corporate and securities matters, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory matters for financial institutions. He has extensive experience in a wide variety of business combinations and advised boards of directors on banking regulatory issues, public disclosure obligations and governance matters. Mr. Kaslow graduated cum laude with a B.A. from Yale University and went on to receive his J.D. from Yale Law School. He was recognized as a 2018 Washington, D.C. “Super lawyer” in the area of Securities & Corporate Finance by Super Lawyers magazine. He is listed in the 2018 and 2019 editions of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business for Financial Services Regulation: Financial Institutions Mergers and Acquisitions and also ranked nationally as a “Recognized Practitioner” in the 2018 and 2019 editions.

 

Philip J. Mantua, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER OF BANCORP AND BANK

Since 2004, Mr. Mantua has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Sandy Spring Bancorp, and currently oversees the Finance and Accounting, Treasury, and Internal Audit functions of the Company. He has been instrumental in the strategic acquisition of bank companies as well as wealth management and insurance agency transactions all contributing to the growth of the Company from $2.3 billion to $12.7 billion in assets.

Prior to becoming CFO, Mr. Mantua served Sandy Spring Bank as Senior Vice President, Director of Managerial Accounting with responsibility for asset/liability management, profitability and performance measurement, and financial planning.

A frequent speaker at various industry-based conferences and seminars on topics such as asset/liability management, interest rate risk, and financial performance analysis, Mr. Mantua is on the faculty of ABA’s Stonier Graduate School of Banking, and the Maryland Banking School. He is a member of the Maryland CPA Association and the American Institute of CPAs, and a former board member for the Association for Management in Financial Services (AMIfs). He also serves as a board member for a number of local not-for-profit organizations.

Ronda M. McDowell, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER

Ms. McDowell has over 35 years of experience in the financial services industry. She began her distinguished career with Sandy Spring Bank in 1996 as part of Credit Risk Management where she quickly established herself as an effective leader. In 2013, Ms. McDowell was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer and oversaw the development of policies and processes that supported the Bank’s strong asset quality performance and portfolio growth. In 2021, Ms. McDowell was named Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer. In this capacity, she oversees the areas of Deposit Operations, Loan Operations and Administration, Business Project Management, Business Process Management and Corporate Real Estate & Facilities. Ms. McDowell serves on the Maryland Bankers Association Board of Directors, and she is the Chair of the Board of the Maryland Title Center. She is also involved in Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program.

Joseph J. O'Brien Jr., EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF BANKING OFFICER

Mr. O’Brien is an Executive Vice President and the Chief Banking Officer, overseeing the Bank’s Commercial Real Estate Lending, Retail and Business Banking Teams, Product Development, Marketing and Online and Digital Banking. Mr. O’Brien joined the Executive team in 2007 and is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing and business development strategies which emphasize client retention, organic growth, effective pricing, and the collaborative, team-oriented delivery of financial products and services to clients through physical and digital channels. Mr. O’Brien has more than 25 years of experience in the regional banking space with an emphasis on commercial real estate and strategic planning. A graduate of James Madison University, Mr. O’Brien holds a BBA in Finance. Mr. O’Brien serves in leadership, Board and fundraising positions for numerous professional and community organizations including at Inova and George Mason University where he currently serves on the George Mason University Board of Trustees.

John D. Sadowski, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER

John D. Sadowski joined Sandy Spring Bank in March 2009 as Chief Information Officer. He has over 25 years of experience in financial services systems and operations including other banking institutions and investment firms. Mr. Sadowski's areas of expertise include Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Project Management and Business Intelligence. Sadowski holds a bachelor's degree from Loyola University and a MBA from Johns Hopkins University. A graduate of the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Mr. Sadowski currently serves on the school's advisory board.

Kevin Slane, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF RISK OFFICER

Mr. Slane joined Sandy Spring Bank and the executive management team in 2018. As Chief Risk Officer, Mr. Slane oversees the enterprise risk management program with a focus on safely enabling business strategies to drive Sandy Spring Bank’s long-term success.

With more than 35 years of experience, Mr. Slane is an accomplished financial services executive. He currently oversees Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk Management and Credit Risk Management and various disciplines that support those functions. He joined Sandy Spring Bank from Hancock Whitney Bank in the Gulf South where he was responsible for enterprise risk management and he had similar risk management responsibilities previously at First Horizon Corporation in Memphis, TN and Wachovia Corporation in Charlotte NC.

Mr. Slane holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. He is a member of the Risk Management Association where he currently serves on the Mid-Tier Bank Council and previously served on the Regulatory Relations and Enterprise Risk Management Councils. Mr. Slane is also a Board Member of the Raphael Village in New Orleans, LA, which seeks to improve the lives of those in the special needs community through education, life skill development, job training and supported living opportunities.
